Fifth Session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in LAC (3-5 October, 2023)
2 October 2023
The Fifth Session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean is organized by ECLAC jointly with the XV Ministerial Forum for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean of the UNDP. In this opportunity, the position paper "Institutional frameworks for social policy in Latin America and the Caribbean: a central element in advancing towards inclusive social development" will be presented. During three days of work, five panel discussions will be held on the topic of institutional frameworks, based on the Regional Agenda for Inclusive Social Development. This regional agenda was approved by the countries in 2019 and aims to support the implementation of the social dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. In its preparation, the achievements, opportunities and critical knots existing in the region to achieve inclusive social development were considered. One of its strategic axes is the strengthening of institutional frameworks so that countries can design and implement quality social policies aimed at combating poverty and reducing inequality; promote the effective enjoyment of people's rights; and cooperate with each other.
