The parallel event will seek to strengthen the exchange of experiences and learning about the strategies that countries discuss and implement to strengthen their social protection systems in the face of crises and future perspectives, with special focus on their monetary transfer systems.

Objective:

This side event aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences on the status of non-contributory pension schemes in the region. It aims to identify progress, common challenges and innovations in their implementation with a view to the future of social protection. The event will examine the sustainability challenges of these systems in terms of coverage, adequacy and financial sustainability.
It will also address their adaptability and resilience to crises and their integration with contributory pension systems.
