Antigua and Barbuda Will Host the Fourth Session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean
The fourth session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean will take place virtually from October 26-28, 2021. The event is organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which will hold its XIII Ministerial Forum for Development in LAC.
In this session attended by social development authorities from around the region, ECLAC will present the document Disasters and inequality in a prolonged crisis: toward universal, integrated, resilient and sustainable social protection systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The report analyzes options for implementing the Regional Agenda for Inclusive Social Development (RAISD) in light of demands for social protection against disasters, with a focus on transformative recovery with equality and sustainability. The RIASD was approved in October 2019 in Mexico in the context of the Third Regional Conference on Social Development.
The inter-governmental conference includes four panels that will discuss issues of relevance with regard to protection systems, and prior to the official activities, a meeting with civil society will take place on October 25.
